JOB OPENING:
"I just had a phone call from Doug Snider at the Binghamton Press for a reference for Rob Howard. In passing he mentioned that ex-DOers have always worked out well on his staff and he is hiring for two other positions besides the one Rob is applying for. One job was the metro editor and I didn't catch the other one. Anyway, if you know of anybody looking for a new job, he can be reached at dschneider@pressconnects.com."
NEW JOB:
October 27, 2005: Eric Grode has been named head theater critic at The New York Sun. He had been head critic at Broadway.com since since May 2004. Prior to that, he was deputy copy chief and then copy chief of TV Guide. (Thanks to MediaBistro for this tidbit.)
BIRTH:
Nora Annelise Loftus was born Sept. 29, 2005, to Peter and Eileen Glanton Loftus. Nora weighed in at 9 lbs., 3 oz., and was 22 inches long. Along with son James, 2, the family lives in Glenside, Pa. Peter is a reporter for Dow Jones; Eileen is at home with the kids for the next couple of years.
NEW NYC REP:
Neil Sutter has graciously agreed to serve as the representative of the DOAA to the Metro Regional Alumni Council in NYC.
